Today was a good session, Only did one set of 145kg. Still having a problem with the rolling of the bar.
Next we did some plyometrics with box jumps. The exercise was to just see max height, this was done by adding a plate after every successful jump to the box. I only managed the box plus 3 of the larger blue plates. Doug did a stellar job keeping up with the taller group. The winner of the event was young Winners, took Nick by one plate.
Next came the main event, The Sled. I have been dying to use the new sled for a couple of weeks. I was originally just going to add 25kg but with the machismo we upped that to 100kg. We did a couple of stages, some 50m and 25m sprints. Credit has to be given to young Mick, with the sled weighing 30kg more than him. Even with his strong start it took him determination and towards the end him on his hands and knees to finish. Bloody motivational stuff.
For the final timed event we dropped the sled to 75kg and did a single 50m. I blitz the others but that was kind of expected with my extra weight. It was also good to see old man Geoff show those young whipper snappers whats what.
I have just done some measurements. I am not sure of the results and will get my girl to re do them later in the week. The result that i was the most surprised and there for suspicious of was the thigh measurement. It showed me loosing 4cm off my thigh. I know that i am not squatting as before but this is a little unbelievable.
Other measurements were chest +5cm and waist -1cm.
...Starts with a single step. And a whole lot of motivation that I still cant find.
Still feeling a little flat. I got up this morning but didn't work out, I think that i might be fighting off the flu. Sharon 'the machine' also didn't feel like working out this morning which is a very rare thing. i thought I would look at what i have accomplished so far this year to help cheer me up.
-1:32 off my grace time.
+10kg to my Press
+20kg to my 3x5 Squat
+20kg to my 1x5 Deadlift
90kg Clean
Able to Bench two Plates again.
-16.4 sec 2000m Row
-6 sec 500m Row
-2kg off Body Weight
-2cm stomach and +1 Chest
thats not bad for a start. I guess on this journey to be a thiner man its better if I dont stop believing

I have not owned a set of scales for many years. I got rid of the last set when I got sick of having to use addition due to the fact i would lap the read out. I know that one of the important things to remember when measuring something like weight is to use a consistent set of scales. The scales i like to run with are at my local doctor. My visits to the GP are roughly ever six months so sometime I am tempted to jump on others. While on holidays I used a set at a chemist, I should have know better to use a set of scales some where they make a lot of money selling weight loss products.White Goodman "Hey Michelle, add five pounds to the scales in the womans locker room."
On the chemist scales I was back up to the 140kg mark. But to day while visiting my GP I was pleasantly surprised with 136kg.

Now 140.4kg is a lot of weight to lift, unfortunately it is not my new record for benchpress but how much I now weight. I know that all my body measurement are going the right way so this should be an indications that I am putting on muscle and not fat. But unfortunately this is still a lot of wight to move around. My understanding is that my body is starting to use the food I eat to help create muscle instead of storing it as fat, this is a good thing. But I really do not want to get heavy, my goal is not be a 'Super Heavy Weight.' The big guys are incredible athletes but I want to be also more mobile. I know what I need to do, cut down food intake, good to know though that my body is starting to adapt.
Some more good news is that I just took stomach measurement again and it is now down to 128cm. This might be just down to fluid loss, I have just been down in Melbourne and the heat was just stupid. On Wedensday the temp was 44c. It is hard to keep fluids up when you are walking around in that heat.
On Friday we did Elizabeth. My time was 9:11 with assisted Dips. There was a bit of contention about if the cleans were just get the bar up or if it had to be caught in the squat position. If any one had Coach on record stating which it would be that would be great. My understanding is that we are after power output there fore the faster we move what ever helps us do that the better. To me it is simular to the kipping verse strict pullups argument. But I do understand that a clean strictly should be catching the weight with the hip crease below parallel.
Well, I have just been looking through some old paper work. Have found some old work out sheets. this is from 11th December 2007.
3x5 Squat 40/60/60
3x5 Deadlift 40/60/60
3x5 Push Press 40/60/60
Man how that has changed. I also had trouble then even hitting full depth in the squat.
I was such a fat bastard then, at least now I am a stronger fat bastard. I just wish that I started to take crossfit workouts and fitness in general more seriously back then. Were would I be now?
Just did some measurements, Some results good some not so good.
Changes
Waste 131cm +2cm :(
Thigh 75cm +1cm :)
